Thales Data Risk Intelligence designed to redefine data risk visibility and mitigation

Thales has launched Data Risk Intelligence , an Imperva Data Security Fabric (DSF) solution that proactively addresses the risks to data wherever it resides. This is the first solution uniting the risk and threat identification capabilities of the Imperva DSF with the data protection capabilities of the Thales CipherTrust Data Security Platform , and follows Thales’ acquisition of Imperva in December 2023. In today’s modern digital landscape, organisations face challenges in managing security across an ever-growing attack surface while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, Thales said. With data and operations spread across cloud, on-premises and hybrid systems, security teams require constant, comprehensive visibility into where their data is, the types of data they have, and the potential risks to that data. According to the 2024 Thales Data Threat Report , 93% of enterprises reported an increase in threats compared to the previous year. The intelligence and contextua...

Singtel, Ericsson to develop fully-automated 5G port

Image
Source: Singtel. Tuas Port. Singtel and Ericsson have partnered to deploy advanced 5G connectivity solutions at Tuas Port in Singapore. This is in support of PSA Singapore’s (PSA's) plans to build the world’s largest fully-automated port by the 2040s to meet the rapidly-rising demand for global transshipment. Singapore’s seaport leverages automated cranes and vehicles, and smart logistics systems to enable faster, more precise handling of cargo. While Tuas Port is currently fully covered with triple-band 5G, 3.5 GHz, 2.1 GHz and newly-available low band 700 MHz spectrum, more 5G solutions can potentially improve port operations.  Existing automated vehicles deployed at the port, such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), will be upgraded to 5G to enhance real-time shipment tracking and further streamline crane operations to enable seamless transportation of cargo from berth to ships and vice versa. To support these enhancements, Singtel will activate a network slice from its 5G net...

Colt Technology Services expands network in Sydney

Colt Technology Services, a global digital infrastructure company, is expanding its optical network in Sydney, Australia with direct network access to approximately 250 commercial buildings and more than 20 data centres in the city. The news follows the expansion of Colt's business in six Southeast Asian countries in June 2024. Colt had previously relied on OLO partners (other licensed operators) to support local access services in Sydney. It can now provide its service end-to-end on its digital infrastructure. This benefits customers in terms of improved lead times for service delivery, better manageability and control over its network for improved customer experience, and more competitive pricing, the company said. The expansion aims to meet rapidly rising demand for bandwidth, as well as the growing need for on-demand services and network flexibility and businesses with high-bandwidth requirements linked to AI, machine learning (ML), fintech and big data. Colt will be offerin...
