Singapore’s National Research and Education Network protects vital research with Check Point Software

Singapore’s National Research and Education Network or SingAREN is Singapore’s national research and community network. One of its main duties is to connect Singapore’s research and educational organisations to research centres across Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the US. Researchers rely on SingAREN’s networks to securely exchange high volumes of research data. But securing a high-throughput network, used by different institutions, can be challenging. Data transfers include complex folder structures with hundreds of thousands of individual files and folders. At the same time, network latency can lead to delays in research breakthroughs. While member institutions have their own firewalls and security solutions, user devices remain a point of entry for malicious activity. Looking for a comprehensive solution to protect their data, without slowing down the speed of research, SingAREN decided to partner with Check Point. “Research data is a target for threat actors,” sai...

Is your event broker equal to the task?

By Shawn McAllister, Solace’s CTO and Chief Product Officer Concept art representing business complexity generated by Blue Willow . Last week, McAllister explained why event brokers are so important for event-driven architecture (EDA). In part 2 of the two-part series, McAllister discusses how to pick the right smart broker: A smart broker should provide three critical attributes: Fine-grained routing and filtering When dealing with complex business operations, events need to be intelligently routed and filtered to be made available to the right people at the right time, not just served up en masse. A smart event broker allows consumers to subscribe to only receive the subset of events they need, in the original sequence.  Take the operational example of a retailer using microservices to stream order-related events – but different functions are being dealt with in different locations. Those application users who only want to process new orders do not require information such a...

Airwallex , a global payments and financial platform for modern businesses, has announced a multiyear partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 team. As an Official Partner, Airwallex will support McLaren’s global financial operations through its treasury management and cross-border payouts and settlement product suite.  Source: Airwallex. A McLaren Formula 1 racing car. Specifically, McLaren will use Airwallex to optimise its supply chain payments for all Grands Prix. McLaren’s existing payments infrastructure limits payment to suppliers, such as hotel and event space providers, to a singular currency account based in the UK, resulting in high foreign exchange (FX) charges, slow transfer time and additional SWIFT fees. Airwallex’s financial technology will unlock multicurrency payment options for McLaren, providing the company the ability to hold core currencies and exchange them with speed and ease at any point while reducing the amount of SWIFT fees that may be payable by leveragi...
