Aqua Security makes cloud-native security software as a service available to APAC customers

Aqua Security, the pure-play cloud native security provider, has announced the general availability of its cloud-native security software as-a-service (SaaS) in Singapore, serving the broader Asia Pacific region (APAC). The Aqua Platform is a cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) that enables customers to adopt cloud-native security best practices as they expand cloud-native footprint and DevOps pipelines. Aqua customers in government, banking, financial services as well as other regulated sectors can take advantage of the data sovereignty, platform security and flexibility provided by the SaaS to prevent cloud-native attacks before they happen. The new SaaS builds on two services already being utilised by customers: Aqua’s CyberCenter threat intelligence and vulnerability information database for scanning, and Dynamic Threat Analysis (DTA) . Both allow DevOps teams to shift further left - test earlier in the software development process - and incorporate securit...

SolarWinds: Hybrid IT acceleration has increased network complexity

Image
Source: SolarWinds. In Singapore, 67% of small businesses said increased technology requirements from multiple departments were leading to increased complexity. SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software, has released the findings of its 9th annual IT Trends Report . The SolarWinds IT Trends Report 2022—Getting IT Right: Managing Hybrid IT Complexity examines the acceleration of digital transformation efforts and its impact on IT departments. The report found the acceleration of hybrid IT has increased network complexity for most organisations and caused several worrisome challenges for IT professionals. Hybrid and remote work have amplified the impact of distributed and complex IT environments. Running workloads and applications across both cloud and on-premises infrastructure can be challenging, and many organisations are increasingly experiencing—and ultimately hindered by—these pain points. According to a report by IDC, as more and more mission-critical workloads move to con...

Why data virtualisation is critical to a successful decentralised data strategy

by Ravi Shankar, Senior VP, Denodo It is important for organisations to gain data accessibility and not just data availability. That is, dedicated users of data must be able to access the data they need at a second's notice to be competitive and effective in today’s fast-moving business environment. For years, we have been trying to democratise data, making it more accessible for analysis so as to deliver more value. Yet centralised data architectures that consolidate data to a single place, such as a data warehouse or data lake, tend to inhibit efforts that allow for easy access to data. One limitation of a centralised data architecture is a lack of flexibility, as it will never be flexible enough to accommodate the needs of every department within a large organisation. Another limitation is slow data provisioning, since it takes time to centralise data from multiple sources. Zhamak Dehghani, Director of Emerging Technologies at Thoughtworks, recently introduced the idea of a dec...

Context-aware Checkmarx Fusion features cross-component prioritisation of application vulnerabilities

Checkmarx, the global leader in developer-centric application security testing (AST) solutions, has announced the availability of Checkmarx Fusion , a context-aware correlation engine that provides a holistic view of application security scan results across all stages of the software lifecycle to correlate and prioritise vulnerabilities, thereby guiding remediation of the most critical issues first. “Development teams test tens of millions of lines of code monthly. With the complexity of modern applications – which include source code, open source code, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), containers, and more – developers and their AppSec leaders have a critical need for visibility into how application components interact,” said Checkmarx Chief Product Officer Razi Sharir. “Working closely with our customers worldwide, we know that developers and AppSec teams need a holistic view of the context and prioritisation of application vulnerabilities that are lacking in AST and ASOC (application s...

Source: NetApp. Rohtagi. NetApp, a global, cloud-led, data-centric software company, has announced new solutions to provide enterprises with more simplicity, security and flexibility for their hybrid multicloud environments. The new capabilities include improved ransomware protection, hybrid cloud storage in a single subscription, unified management in a single user interface, and close collaboration with VMware to help transition workloads to the cloud. According to NetApp, the acquisition of public cloud services to augment existing on-premises data centres, can lead to hard-to-manage combined infrastructures over time. NetApp's new unified, consistent hybrid multicloud experience is a single platform that supports everything from on-premises resources to public clouds. “As organisations today explore the promise of hybrid multicloud environments, they are keen to avoid complexity, security, and cost efficiency challenges,” said Ronen Schwartz, Senior VP, Cloud Volum...
