VMware helps Asian businesses to enhance agility, flexibility and choice

VMware has outlined its strategy for empowering organisations across Southeast Asia and Korea to build the best digital foundation in Asia’s rapidly-digitalising economy at the 2019 VMware CIO Forum in Singapore. According to Gartner’s 2019 CIO Survey , digital business has reached a tipping point. Forty-seven percent of Asia Pacific CIOs report their enterprises have already changed their business models or are in the process of changing them*. Thirty-one percent of Asia Pacific CIOs are also scaling up their digital transformation efforts to capitalise on the region’s growth. ASEAN’s digital economy is projected to hit US$5.1 trillion by 2025 alone, up from US$200 billion in 2018**. “There is no question that businesses need to transform themselves to stay relevant in Asia’s new economic paradigm. Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission moves to strengthen accountability and drive innovation

The Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore has introduced three initiatives to facilitate the movement and use of data to support innovation, and to strengthen accountability among organisations: - A public consultation to seek views on proposed data portability and data innovation provisions, as part of the review of the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA);   -  A new Guide on Active Enforcement as part of its drive for organisations to shift from compliance to accountability; and - An updated Guide to Managing Data Breaches 2.0, to help organisations manage and respond to data breaches more effectively.
