Additional capital requirement on DBS Bank due to digital banking outage

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has imposed on DBS Bank an additional capital requirement following the widespread unavailability of the bank’s digital banking services from 23 to 25 November 2021. MAS has required DBS Bank to apply a multiplier of 1.5 times to its risk-weighted assets for operational risk. This translates to an additional amount of approximately S$930 million in regulatory capital (based on reported financial statements as at 30 September 2021). MAS noted deficiencies in DBS Bank’s incident management and recovery procedures to restore its digital banking services to a normal state, resulting in the prolonged duration of the disruption. MAS has further directed DBS Bank to appoint an independent expert to conduct a comprehensive review of the incident, including the bank’s recovery actions. The independent review is also required to assess how a similar incident can be prevented in future. DBS Bank must rectify all shortcomings identified from t...

Taiwan studio delivers extended reality experiences with NVIDIA technology

Source: NVIDIA. TCImage is delivering interior and exterior design renders for clients using NVIDIA RTX, CloudXR, DLSS and Omniverse. TCImage, a studio based in Taipei, is collaborating with clients through presenting its landscape and architecture designs as realistic 3D graphics in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality — collectively known as extended reality, or XR. TCImage produces high-quality, 3D visualisations of its projects and shares them with clients in a virtual environment. This lets users review and engage with full-scale models, so they can get to the final design faster. NVIDIA RTX, CloudXR, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and NVIDIA Omniverse help TCImage to provide the visualisations. During the design process, TCImage CEO Leo Chou and his team use popular applications like Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Revit, Trimble SketchUp and Unreal Engine 4.  Chou initially tried using a consumer-level PC to render 3D graphics, but it would take up to three hours just ...
