Cisco launches SMB assessment tool for cybersecurity preparedness

Cisco has launched a new cybersecurity assessment tool to enable small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Singapore to better understand their overall security posture. The new online assessment tool assesses the cybersecurity readiness of an organisation through the lens of Zero Trust, the concept that all attempts to access an organisation’s network architecture are not granted until trust can be verified. When a user accesses an application using a device, both the user and device are verified, with that trust continuously monitored. This helps secure the organisation’s applications and environments, from any user, device, and location. The tool assesses the organisation’s level of maturity in six areas of Zero Trust i.e., User and Identity, Device, Networks, Workload (applications), Data, and Security Operations. Once the organisation enters details of its security capabilities and policies, the tool assesses the overall security posture of the organisation based on indust...

CyberArk: Cybersecurity debt now affecting organisations

Image
Source: CyberArk. Research from CyberArk has uncovered concerns about cybersecurity debt. A new global report* from CyberArk shows that 82% of Singapore senior security professionals state that cybersecurity has taken a back seat in the last year in favour of accelerating other digital business initiatives.  The CyberArk 2022 Identity Security Threat Landscape Report identifies how the rise of human and machine identities – often running into the hundreds of thousands per organisation – has driven a buildup of identity-related cybersecurity “debt”, exposing organisations to greater cybersecurity risk.  Every major IT or digital initiative results in increasing interactions between people, applications and processes, creating large numbers of digital identities. If these digital identities go unmanaged and unsecured, they can represent significant cybersecurity risk:  - Seventy-four percent of non-humans or bots have access to sensitive data and assets.  - The average...

Gamification is more than just tech talk

Image
by Mayank Agarwal, Co-Founder and CTO, Hubilo Source: Hubilo. Agarwal. Borne out of necessity rather than convenience, technology has transposed events to the virtual space to mitigate the risks that come with unpredictability. In doing so, organisations have discovered a virtual medium in which to express their creativity to connect people and deliver memorable experiences, albeit from the convenience of home. This renaissance in event planning creativity has also resulted in more awareness of the impacts that event tech can have in a broader strategic sense beyond just the number of attendees and audience satisfaction. With the advent of event tech, organisations are beginning to harness the data that comes from tracking every click and chat on the event and distilling meaningful insights that drive revenue, demand generation, and brand growth while fighting disengagement. Among the many solutions, gamification stands out as an ultimate fatigue buster, fundamentally addressing...

Singapore trends in using edtech for adult education

A study has found that adult educators have learned how to deliver online lesson content more effectively with the help of modern online teaching and learning tools (edtech). The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and the Institute of Adult Learning (IAL) recently conducted a survey among 139 adult educators focusing on edtech to find out how they can develop best practices for planning future lessons and training initiatives. Some of the findings include the top tools used by instructors ( Zoom, YouTube and Canvas ), and the challenges adult educators face, including the inadequate awareness of appropriate tools, limited budgets and the extra time needed to incorporate such tools into lessons. Research highlights include: Using edtech in online lessons The majority of IAL instructors (84%) were motivated to adopt edtech to convey information more effectively during lessons. - Roughly one in three (31%) of IAL instructors agree that online lessons can just as...
