Singtel has announced its partnership with Hyundai Motor Group to develop their Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre in Singapore (HMGICS). The first in the world advanced manufacturing facility will include tailored Singtel 5G solutions that ensure enhanced quality control in EV manufacturing operations, as well as the development of a metaverse for the manufacturing industry. Rocket Software, a global technology provider that develops enterprise software for some of the world’s largest companies, has introduced a new version of PRO/JCL , a job control language (JCL) manager that will help mainframe data centres achieve and operate a modern JCL environment. A recent survey from Rocket Software found that companies continue to face skills gaps in their talent pool, and modernising systems is the most popular way respondents are working to maintain talent pipelines. Nearly half (45%) of IT professionals cited modernisation as the top method. Cyberattacks have become an increasingly pressing global issue due to technological advancements that have migrated data storage online: 2021 was rife with ransomware and other cyberattacks on crucial supply chains and cyberespionage campaigns by nation-state threat actors. Despite the damaging effects of recent cyberattacks, critical infrastructure security measures continue to be ineffective and out of date, creating an expanded attack vector for threat actors. A survey conducted by Ernst & Young showed that although over 50% of companies in Asia Pacific are concerned about the vulnerability of their cybersecurity services, only 0.05% of their annual revenue was allocated to strengthening these services. This could possibly translate to a considerably weaker cybersecurity infrastructure within the region compared to their global counterparts.
