AWS customers welcome new AWS Region in Thailand

Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company, has launched the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region. As part of its long-term commitment, AWS is planning to invest more than US$5 B in Thailand. AWS Regions are composed of Availability Zones that place infrastructure in separate and distinct geographic locations. AWS estimates the construction and ongoing operation of the new AWS region will add approximately US$10 B to Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) and support an average of more than 11,000 full-time-equivalent jobs at external businesses annually. These jobs, including construction, facility maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and others within the country’s broader economy, will be part of the AWS supply chain in Thailand. “I would like to extend my appreciation to Amazon Web Services for investing in the development of data centres in Thailand,” said Paetongtarn Shinawatra, PM of Thailand. “I am pleased that Thailand’s potential and readiness ha...

Digital Realty empowers Turing's Gaggle Cluster with optimal data centre environment

Japanese AI company Turing has established its computation platform for full driving automation at Digital Realty’s NRT10 data centre in Japan. NRT10, a certified NVIDIA DGX-ready data centre featuring a high-density power supply, provides the ideal environment for maximising GPU performance and efficiency. Turing, a pioneer in the development of full driving automation technology, is working on an end-to-end self-driving system that uses AI to control all driving functions, such as steering, acceleration, and braking, solely based on data from the vehicle’s cameras. The company has advanced autonomous driving by creating Heron , a multimodal generative AI that makes sophisticated decisions using text and visual data, and Terra , a generative world model that understands complex real-world situations and generates realistic driving scenes as videos. Turing is now focused on its flagship project, Tokyo30 , aiming to achieve Level 5 full driving automation for 30 minutes or more in ...

NVIDIA unveils most affordable generative AI supercomputer

NVIDIA is putting generative AI within reach of more people with a new compact supercomputer that offers increased performance at a lower price. The new NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, which fits in the palm of a hand, provides gains in generative AI capabilities and performance for everyone from commercial AI developers to hobbyists and students, the company said, for US$249 (down from US$499). The kit can be used to run the most popular generative AI models, like vision transformers, large language models, vision-language models, and more, and delivers as much as a 1.7x leap in generative AI inference performance, a 70% increase in performance to 67 INT8 TOPS, and a 50% increase in memory bandwidth to 102 GBps compared with its predecessor. The developer kit consists of a Jetson Orin Nano 8 GB system-on-module (SoM) and a reference carrier board, providing an ideal platform for prototyping edge AI applications. The SoM features an NVIDIA Ampere architecture G...

Is Zero Trust becoming an overloaded industry buzzword?

Image
by Nick Harders, APJ SASE Director, HPE Aruba Networking Source: HPE. Harders. Zero Trust has emerged as a prominent term in cybersecurity discussions, yet it risks becoming an overloaded industry buzzword. With countless vendors touting "Zero Trust" solutions, the essence of what Zero Trust truly entails can easily be lost. Comprehensive frameworks like NIST’s Zero Trust Architecture and Singapore’s GovTech Government Zero Trust Architecture (GovZTA) aim to clarify its principles, but confusion persists regarding implementation and practical application. To prevent Zero Trust from becoming just another marketing term, organisations must adopt a pragmatic approach that prioritises its core principles — comprehensive visibility, least-privilege access, and continuous monitoring.  Visibility Achieving comprehensive visibility is the first step toward effective Zero Trust implementation. This starts with capturing telemetry from your deployed network and security solutions. ...

Salesforce launches Agentforce 2.0

Salesforce has announced Agentforce 2.0 , the newest version of the first digital labour platform for enterprises. Salesforce describes Agentforce as a complete AI system for augmenting teams with trusted, autonomous AI agents in the flow of work.  This release introduces a new library of prebuilt skills and workflow integrations for rapid customisation, the ability to deploy Agentforce in Slack , and advancements in agentic reasoning and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) . The advances will enable companies to scale their workforce with customised agents capable of handling complex, multi-step tasks with even more precision and accuracy, the company said. When teams typically have more work to do than resources available, poorer customer interactions and lengthy backlogs can happen. Organisations are turning to AI to help, but have a low tolerance for inadequate solutions that provide generic responses. According to Salesforce research: Two out of three consumers (67%) are...
