The airport model is the new cybersecurity paradigm

By Miju Han, Director of Product Management at HackerOne There has been a dramatic shift away from the traditional cybersecurity “fortress” strategy to a new, modern approach that understands that there is no way to be 100% secure. Building a fortress has been the typical security model for years, where firewalls are expected to protect assets from outsiders and a limited number of entry points enable the tracking of data flow and access. Once inside, however, users have free access (because, presumably, they've been vetted). It essentially relies upon one hardened entry point that, if overcome, leaves everything of value unprotected. This is no longer safe because criminals have figured out how to get over these walls with social engineering, malware, and other tactics. Plus, humans tend to make mistakes and leave a known or unknown door open by placing data on a public server or failing to patch a technology gap. One Identity announces new SAP certifications

One Identity , which helps organisations with identity and access management (IAM), has announced that its Identity Manager solution has achieved two more certifications with SAP technologies.  One Identity on-prem and cloud solutions have a long history of enhancing SAP compliance and governance with a cross-platform view, while simplifying user provisioning and deprovisioning and permissions management. One Identity Manager is now certified as powered by SAP NetWeaver.  Solutions with this certification can be more quickly and easily integrated into the SAP NetWeaver solution environment. Customers can also benefit from improved interoperability with SAP applications and with the ecosystem of solutions that run on SAP NetWeaver. Choosing an SAP-certified solution can also help reduce overall IT investment costs and risks. Insider threats and cloud deployment

Whether malicious or simply clueless or careless, they can pose a bigger risk since they don’t have to breach external security barriers and simply being present won’t raise any red flags — they’re supposed to be there. But apparently those threats aren’t as obvious as they should be for some organisations—especially when it comes to the cloud. In the recent Threatbusters: Bitglass’ 2019 Insider Threat Report , the cloud access security broker (CASB) company found that 68% of 437 IT professionals surveyed considered their organisations to be moderately to extremely vulnerable to insider threats. Sony launches two new IP-based pan-tilt-zoom cameras

Source: Sony. The new SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 cameras. Sony has introduced two new cameras to its IP-based pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera family. The SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 join the BRC-X400, announced in April. The new models offer a 4K upgrade option – a first for Sony’s PTZ cameras to ensure today’s HD usage and protect the investment for tomorrow. The SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 are designed for a variety of corporate, education, healthcare, houses of worship and government applications. On the other hand, 4K resolution comes standard on the BRC-X400, which is ideally suited for broadcast studio and reality TV production as well as live event capture. These cameras incorporate Sony’s newly-developed 4K Exmor RTM CMOS image sensor that ensures superb image quality. The sensor achieves natural colour reproduction with minimal noise. VESIT studies how tuberculosis spreads using Azure and AI

A professor and her students are using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict how airborne diseases can propagate based on climate conditions, air quality, and population density. “If we can employ AI algorithms to predict the spread of disease and understand how environmental changes, including climatic conditions and external factors like pollution impact the ecology and epidemiology of disease, we can initiate precision public health at a granular level,” explains Dr Nupur Giri, Professor, and Head of Department of Computer Engineering at Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology (VESIT), Mumbai, India. In 2018, the team began with looking for correlations to predict how tuberculosis (TB) would spread. The disease affected an estimated 2.74 million people in India in 2017.
