The first goal of the FIFA World Cup 2026, scored by Mexico’s Julian Quinones at the Mexico City Stadium on June 11, was captured by Referee View, powered by Lenovo AI.
Referee View, giving the point of view of referee Wilton Sampaio, gave fans across the world a unique view of Quinones’ goal, the first in the host’s 2-0 win over South Africa.
Referee View AI Stabilizer provides the host broadcast production with an immediate additional broadcast stream and offers fans an unprecedented on-field perspective with no loss in visual quality. Lenovo’s AI-driven stabilisation feed overlay achieves up to 50% jitter reduction in high motion scenarios, offering a smoother viewing experience for fans.
The tournament features 48 teams, 104 matches, and 16 cities across three countries, managed via Lenovo's Intelligent Command Center (ICC). While previous tournaments relied on teams consuming fragmented information from different systems, the ICC brings it all together in one place, in real-time.
The centralised operations platform gives FIFA a holistic, live view of everything happening across the tournament. Beyond real-time monitoring, the ICC supports collaboration across teams, scenario planning ahead of matches, and post-event analysis.
The ICC aggregates data from multiple operational systems, giving officials a shared source of truth for everything from venue-level activity to tournament-wide trends. Different functional areas can now update each other in real-time from across the continent.
FIFA operations teams and executives need a shared, live operational picture to identify potential bottlenecks, risks, and disruptions earlier and respond more effectively as situations evolve. The ICC is a fundamental feature of the Tournament Operations Center (TOC) in Miami, from which FIFA oversees the entire tournament. Big screens display real-time insights and alerts, while operational details are sent to various stakeholders through Lenovo tablets and other devices.
Lenovo designed and built the ICC platform, ensuring its seamless execution across functionality, performance, and responsiveness. The company enables the integration of data, dashboards, and decision-support tools that power the platform.
Lenovo is also providing AI-guided navigation for stadium visitors, the FIFA AI Pro assistant experience, realistic 3D player avatars for live replays, and advanced broadcast centre infrastructure for the event.
The near real-time AI-powered infrastructure platform enables ultra-low-latency IPTV (Internet Protocol television) video distribution in addition to the traditional cable and satellite broadcast, intelligent content delivery, and mission-critical decision-making across the event ecosystem and operations.
Lenovo servers at the International Broadcast Center in Dallas, Texas help deliver the computing power, devices, and AI-driven solutions needed to bring matches to global audiences and support the most expansive broadcast operation in FIFA World Cup history. More than 17,000 Lenovo and Motorola devices and 200+ engineers deployed across venues and Team Base Camp training sites will help ensure professional execution.
Lenovo’s technology solutions have reduced latency within the IPTV infrastructure, with IPTV delays now under five seconds. Lenovo ThinkSystem SR635 V3 servers and technology will help manage live video data coming in from stadiums across North America and power FIFA’s IPTV live feed by ingesting, processing, and distributing all match content in close to real-time via 10 channels to over 1,000 screens throughout FIFA venues.

The AI-enabled 3D player avatars provide clearer, real-time visualisation of complex decisions such as offside calls. Built using advanced generative AI and real-world player data, these avatars are designed to help fans better understand the game as it happens. The avatars will also be an additional value input to support FIFA’s Match Officials in their offside decision-making during matches.
