Appear, Skyline Communications enhance live event production workflows
Appear and Skyline Communications have introduced newly-developed and integrated features designed to streamline live event production workflows.
Key highlights of the joint development include:
- Developing a new off-the-shelf HTML application, based on Skyline’s new dataminer.mediaOps solution, and integrating with Appear’s X Platform, providing a central view of all connections including a geographic overview depicting connections and key metrics such as bandwidth between locations.
- Software router panels, offering an intuitive interface for ad-hoc event connections. Similar to using a serial digital input (SDI) router, users can easily connect Appear sources with destinations using protocols such as SRT and JPEG-XS.
- Featured scheduling functionality allowing operators to plan connections and reserve required bandwidth ahead of time. Skyline Communications' DataMiner acts as an orchestrator, keeping track of resource utilisation and preventing overbooking.
“Our collaboration with Skyline Communications is all about empowering our customers to deliver exceptional live events with greater operational efficiency,” said Alex Pannell, Chief Commercial Officer at Appear.
“These new features provide a perfect blend of automation and intuitive control, streamlining workflows and saving valuable time and resources. The expanded functionality means that we can continue to serve our customers with market-leading systems for managing and monitoring their live event workflows and contribution links.”
Thomas Gunkel, Market Director Broadcast at Skyline Communications noted: “The engineering teams at Skyline Communications and Appear have collaborated to bring powerful new features that empower operators to manage contribution workflow connections and schedule resources and network capacity efficiently, ultimately ensuring smoother and more successful live productions.”
