Huawei launches smart city solutions at MWC 2024
MWC 2024: Huawei has released smart city solutions to help governments with increasingly complex urban management.
City Intelligent Twins represents a future-oriented digital city technical architecture. Based on technologies such as IoT sensing, high-speed connectivity, cloud computing, big data, and AI foundation models, this architecture helps build an integrated intelligent system featuring cloud-network-edge-device synergy, integrated data for city governance, and assurance of continuous operations.
Zhou Hongquan, COO of the Government Public Services Digitalization BU of Huawei said: "The innovative city intelligent twins architecture is Huawei's latest achievement in core smart city technologies and applications. It helps city managers optimise operations efficiency of the city, improves residents' quality of life, and provide powerful support for the sustainable development of smart cities."
In practice, Huawei has successfully improved the collaboration efficiency of urban management departments by 40% and the efficiency of handling public opinion incidents by 30%.
LED specialist Unilumin Group Company separately announced the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution to accelerate smart city transformation in conjunction with Huawei. Based on Huawei's technology, the solution offers secure, sustainable, intelligent, and efficient city operations, improved city governance, as well as city sensing management.
Feature highlights include:
- Integrated access. Through optical and IP network slicing technology, one fibre is used for multiple networks. This provides integrated access for service networks such as control networks.
- Two-way authentication between the optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONU) prevents device forgery and ensures reliable transmissions.
- Wireless microwave connectivity enables high bandwidth, low latency, and trenchless cabling, and reduces single-site construction costs by 60%.
- With high-frequency broadband power line communications (HPLC), digital street lamps can be quickly upgraded with no need for cabling. Radar sensing and intelligent edge gateways enable automatic, on-demand lighting.
- Using Huawei Cloud, unified Internet of Things (IoT) management, and intelligent gateways, this solution enables multi-scenario and multi-device algorithm analysis and intelligent IoT sensing linkage.
- The solution automates operations and maintenance (O&M).
